👋 Hey! I’m Lisa, founder of LSG and Tutorboss, your virtual older sister, and a bbt enthusiast.

Find out more about me👇

What I’m working on

  • I’m the Founder of Lisa’s Study Guides, an education company that empowers students to take control of their learning. We do this through free resources, private tutoring, and study guides. I still can’t fathom that my videos are used in schools across the world 🥹

  • I sold and exited LSG in Feb 2023 🥳. I’ll now be focusing on Tutorboss (see below) and personal content creation.

  • In 2021, I started a new business called Tutorboss. I help tutoring business owners grow their income. I often have a little chuckle with myself that I’m tutoring tutors how to tutor. If you want to work with me as your business coach or consultant, check out what I do here or DM me on Insta.

  • My creative outlet is TikTok (lol). And my oh my is it the most fun I have! My dream is to inspire others somewhat like the older sister they’ve always wanted - bubbly, sassy, and unfiltered. Come join me there @imlisatran!

  • On this website, I will very rarely add some blogs sharing some of my life and entrepreneurial experiences.

About Me

(The professional version for the interwebs)

  • My official ‘trade’ was a Pharmacist. I haven’t been a Pharmacist since 2016 and I quit because my boss wouldn’t let me take a holiday to see the boy I liked at the time 😅.

  • I love making an impact through education. I truly believe that knowledge is power - thanks, George Orwell’s 1984. I think that’s why I’ve been in the education space since I was 18; first as a private tutor (18 yo), then as a private tutoring business owner at Lisa’s Study Guides (24), then as a study guide publisher (26), edtech (28), and most recently, a business coach and consultant (31).

  • For my work, I’ve been lucky enough to have been awarded Anthill 30under 30, Victorian Young Achievers Finalist, and I even did a TEDx talk!

(The version my friends know)

  • I’ve been told I’m extremely loud. This might have to do with me growing up almost as an only child (my brother is 12 years older than me). I honestly think I’m slightly deaf because I talk so loudly 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • I love desserts. At a cake shop, I’m greedy in that I’ll order one slice of almost every flavour. You’ll see this happen in my Instagram stories 😂

  • I’m extremely extroverted. I will take 98% of the opportunities to spend time with people. I often wonder where my social confidence came from because I was a very, very shy kid.

What I’m thinking about

  • I place a lot of pressure on myself to accomplish and achieve things in life. In 2019, I jumped into the mindfulness journey, and I’m finding this has helped me slow down and to appreciate what I have. I’d love to bring you along on this journey so we can take the time to enjoy life more 😁 Update: I’m now letting go of the external validation ‘success’ identity I’ve had in my 20s (income, achievements etc.), and I’m starting to embrace a new identity where I live a life aligned with my values. This is my new measurement of success.

  • I hold onto a lot of self-doubt and feelings of imposter syndrome. I found ‘success’ early in my career, and I’ve always struggled to get my head around the amazing opportunities that come my way. I think I subconsciously don’t believe/don’t deserve to achieve my big lofty goals, and that this is most likely limiting my potential. This is something I’m still working to overcome 🙃

  • Building an authentic and transparent brand. More than ever, followers/customers want to know more about the person or company they’re investing their time into or buying from. I admire the brands that value authenticity; it’s crucial to survive and thrive in the digital world. I strive to do this in my own work - across Lisa’s Study Guides, Tutorboss and my personal brand. In fact, that’s why I’ve created this website - to give you more insight into the person behind the work.

  • I’m learning that people don’t necessarily just want to see the final product, they’d like to see the process and progress of your work. I’ve learnt this from Ali Abdaal (a YouTuber/entrepreneur who is kicking goals in life), and his book recommendations including Show Your Work!. As such, I’m taking the time now to show the behind-the-scenes of my work life, as well as my self-development journey :)

  • I’d love to be an author one day. That’s why I spend my downtime learning about how to be a better communicator and storyteller. You see the learnings come to life through all of my work, particularly on Tiktok.

That’s it for now 🥳. If you like what you see, please click through to a link of your interest! 👇
